Favorite Brand I really like a lot of, and so i do not have a popular.

“Sustainability does mean supporting indie brands by POC that might or might not continually be produced by having an ecological ethos-but have messages that support a cultural or political one.”

First of all my style is eclectic, and that’s why I’ve no favorite designer or store. I love from minimalist and straightforward, to chicly mixing prints, to being super comfy, completely to as being a bold and boisterous pressure. And I’m always matching and mixing. The main one constant is the fact that my style identity needs to always reflect my values. For me personally, sustainability is absolutely, fairly traded handcrafted products bobs which are botanically dyed and vintage/thrifted finds. It means supporting indie brands by POC that might or might not continually be produced by having an ecological ethos-but have messages that support a cultural or political one. Like a black lady in the usa, I take a look at many layers of cultural and social intersection which creates my understating of sustainability.

My fashion sensibility (as everyone’s ought to be) is extremely political. Even if I am not getting “dressed up”, things i choose to use during the day has intention and meaning. And it is not only my clothes, it’s my adornments too. Now more than ever before, my fashion IQ reflects the emotional, cultural, and stylistic landscape which has possibility to create paradigm shifts among individuals who are prepared to view it.

“I organically use fashion as my method of activism, when i don’t believe that they’re two separate constructs.”

My fashion undoubtedly reflects the mission of my blog MelaninASS (Melanin And Sustainable Style)-that is uplifting POC within the sustainable lifestyle space whilst fighting off, dismantling and reworking this narrative of conscious and ethical fashion/beauty. I organically use fashion as my method of activism, when i don’t believe that they’re two separate constructs. Activism is very broad by which I’m able to be discussing context around happiness, just like I’m able to be vocalizing institutionalized racism. Nearly every day, I’m intentional about attempting to put on an eco- or culturally-sustainable brand produced with a black lady or indigenous person of color.

My style can’t be defined, but my reason for black freedom and POC liberation through fashion, beauty and wellness could be. On a single hands my style is really a pillar to challenge colonized approaches and however it’s something a manifestation of my happiness and confidence. I fuse each of individuals ideologies to abstractly connect with the tales, background and traditions from the hands who produced things i put on. Fashion is simply one other way I speak my truth, voice my estimation, spread love and share my story with this DOPE ass people nowadays.
