I lately happened upon the textile brand MINNA on instagram and immediately fell deeply in love with their goods and story. The NY based brand strives to bridge the space between ethically made goods and contemporary design. Having a cottage industry approach, MINNA partners with master weavers and artisan collectives in Mexico and Guatemala. Their goods are created using traditional craft techniques which will help ensure both craft upkeep and job creation. MINNA’s designs are informed and inspired through the Bauhaus, Feminist art, traditional craft, and vintage textiles.

Their goods are handcrafted from with “barro” (clay) harvested in the mountaintops of Honduras and intricately woven pine straw thread.

STITCH & LOOM
Two buddies from Portland started partnering with indigenous weavers within the foothills of Mexico to produce superbly hand crafted rugs for that modern home. Stitch & Loom emphasizes an immediate trade model, where they meet each weaver personally and every weaver sets the cost for his or her rugs. Stitch & Loom’s beautiful textiles offer the craft indigenous Zapotec people and like heirlooms, their rugs should remain in the household for a lot of generations.

I lately discovered One Happy Leaf, a contemporary, refined lower to earth jewellery line that provides to the atmosphere, people and creatures. All jewellery pieces are manufactured from Forest Stewardship Council certified bamboo along with a part of One Happy Leaf earnings are provided to organizations that save and take care of mistreated creatures. Their packaging is made of recycled paper collected within the beautiful developing island of Indonesia in Indonesia. The little business employs the neighborhood women in the surrounding villages to give them employment along with a rut to operate.
