Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton fled his home inside a truck driven by his wife, condition Sen. Angela Paxton, to avert being offered a subpoena Monday, based on an affidavit filed in federal court.
Ernesto Martin Herrera, a procedure server, was trying to serve the state’s top attorney having a subpoena for any federal court Tuesday inside a suit from nonprofits that are looking to assist Texans purchase abortions from condition.

Texas Attorney General Herrera showed up at Paxton’s home in McKinney on Monday morning, he told a lady who identified herself as Angela he was attempting to deliver legal documents towards the attorney general. She told him that Paxton was on the telephone and not able arrive at the doorway. Herrera stated he’d wait.
Nearly an hour or so later, a black Chevrolet Tahoe pulled in to the front yard, and twenty minutes next, Ken Paxton exited the home.
“I walked in the front yard approaching Mr. Paxton and known as him by his name. When he saw me and heard me call his name out, he switched around and RAN back indoors using it . door in the spare room,” Herrera authored within the sworn affidavit.
Angela Paxton then exited the home, got in the Chevrolet truck within the front yard, began it and opened up the doorways.
“A couple of minutes later I saw Mr. Paxton RAN in the door within the garage for the rear door behind the motive force side,” Herrera authored. “I contacted the18 wheeler, and noisally known as him by his name and mentioned which i had court papers for him. Mr. Paxton overlooked me and stored at risk of the18 wheeler.”
Texas Attorney General Herrera eventually placed the subpoenas on the floor close to the truck and told him he was serving him having a subpoena. Both cars drove away, departing the documents on the floor.
On Twitter, the lawyer general stated his sudden departure was motivated by concerns for his family’s safety.
“It’s obvious the media really wants to drum up another debate involving my act as Attorney General, so they’re attacking me for getting the audacity to prevent a complete stranger lingering outdoors my house and showing worry about the security and well-being of my loved ones,” he authored inside a tweet.
Paxton continues to be under indictment for securities fraud for seven many faces a whistleblower suit from former top deputies who accused him of abuse of office. Paxton has denied wrongdoing.
