I recall the very first couple of occasions I shaved like a middle schooler. Shaving felt just like a right of passage into womanhood, or what my 13-year-old self thought womanhood was. I figured my femininity was associated with getting smooth skin everywhere with no trace of hair. Searching back, it’s easy to understand how individuals beauty standards seeped into my subconscious.
